We have boring insect damage to our 25 year old full log home. I believe it is from ants and powder post bees. What insecticide do you recommend?

Answer:

If it is ants and Powder Post Beetles (there are also Carpenter Bee's), you will have to have the house stripped and treated with a good borate solution.  I recommend Shell Guard or Shell Guard RTU.  As for Carpenter Bee's, if that is what you have, there is no real cure for them since they do not eat the wood fiber.  I tell my customers to have an exterminator come in every 30 days while they are active.
