Planned Log Replacement on a Two-Story Northwest Arkansas Log Home

This log home sits in the northwest corner of Arkansas, on the edge of the Ozark Mountains. Rot had worked into several logs on two walls, including long runs between and under the windows.

The blue lines in the before photos were drawn during our initial site visit. That’s where we mapped exactly which logs needed replacing and where each section started and stopped. When the crew arrived, the work matched that plan. The homeowner knew up front what was being replaced and why, with no surprises once the job started.

We replaced each marked section with a new log matched to the size and profile of the originals, then fit and sealed every joint. Only the damaged wood came out, and the rest of the original wall stayed in place.

The homeowner is staining the new logs himself with the same stain used on the rest of the house. Once it’s on, the repairs will blend in with the existing logs.
